General Surgery
The Division of General Surgery at the University of British Columbia is a clinical and academic service which
provides advanced expertise in all aspects of general surgery, including oncology, trauma, transplantation,
critical care, and diseases related to the gastrointestinal tract.
The Division of General Surgery has a Royal
College approved six year residency training program which includes one year of research.
Dr. Morad Hameed is
the Program Director of Postgraduate Education UBC Division of General Surgery.
In addition, the Division is
responsible for the training of undergraduate medical students and provides training for core residents in other
surgical subspecialties.
There are active research programs in the fields of transplant immunology, oncology,
critical care, minimal invasive surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, and surgical education.
There are ongoing
continuing medical education programs to keep the medical community updated in a variety of surgical
problems.
